Anyways, Gohan's nerdiness in the Boo Saga is due to interacting with people who actually matter in society and throughout his childhood, most of the people he interacted with were adults (except Piccolo) since he lives far in the middle of nowhere. To elaborate on your last point, Gohan was sheltered from mainstream society. As a result, he wasn't able to develop any social skills. The most interaction with others that he had (as you said) was with adults/aliens who were relative/close friends and animals in the forest. Even so, at the end of the day the girls were still gaga over him.

Yeah, there were some characters in the show who were huge leeches. (his name start with a K, and he trained at the Turtle School) Meanwhile, Gohan was making bank. Kame Sennin wasn't a leech :c We all know who I'm referring to. Did he ever move out of Master Roshi's house (even after he got married and had a kid)?
